Our company deals with development of financial software systems sincs 1996. IRIS (Integrated Risk Management System) is an itegrated system for supporting the risk management of financial institutes (banks, investment companies, etc.) which is customised regarding to individual requirements of OTP Bank Plc. Its development was preceeded by creation of the general-purpose ECONOHELP Financial Analyser and Credit Standing Examination System as well as the Credit Assistant (Hitelezési Segédlet) and Uniform Credit Approval and Risk Management System (Egységes Hitelengedélyezési és Kockázatkezelési Rendszer, EHKR) made for OTP Bank Plc. A short description of the mentioned developments can be read on the References/Business applications page.

IRIS aims at supporting the whole life cycle of active deals from contacting the clients through intra-organisational decision support steps to the continuous monitoring of live bank transaction until its closure. This ensures the transparency of the process, the systematic storage of data and manifold analysability of information. User rights can be fine-tuned being organised in 20 roles. Activities done in the system can be fully traced by the logging facilities. Tha Parameterising client module can be used for managing base data (user right tables, code tables, substitutions, etc.) as well as for modifying credit products and their parameters (parameters of debt rating, templates, forms, business and financial attributes, analyses, etc.).

OTP Bank Plc. has introduced the multilingual and international version of the system in its Ukrainian (2008) and Romanian (2009) affiliate. This version needed a huge amount of development and the name of the system has changed from EHKR to IRIS. Currently the system is used by more than 1000 users.

The main elements of IRIS:

  • supporting workflows related to crediting
  • collateral maintenance and analytics (tracing collateral-deal relations)
  • overall risk management (deals, limits, client groups, handling risk assessment limitations)
  • template based document generation and management
  • analyses, executive reports
  • process monitoring
  • client analysis
  • parameterisable client rating and deal rating

Tasks can be executed with separate modules that are connected to each other at necessary points.

Deal workflow module

The module ensures following active and requested deals, from accepting client’s request through licensing and contracting to closure of deal, as well as supports decision preparation of deals within the organisation, following the licensing path and generation of necessary documents in deals’ highlighted phases (eg. decision preparation, decision, contract). Besides handling deal workflows this module supports registration and licensing of limits, client groups and risk assessment barriers in an integrated way.

The deal manager workflow motor that processes steps of deals initiated by clients can be parameterised in a wide range. The attributes related to deals’ running out (eg. lead time) can be queried that ensures recognising of execution’s bottlenecks and so augmenting efficiency of the licensing process.

Collateral registration module

The collateral registration module supports separated registration of collateral data related to deals, timeline based management of collateral values (valuations), continuous monitoring of collateral encumbrance and coverage of deals, registering pledge entries of pledge type collaterals as well as analytic registration of collaterals and ensuring book entries related to collaterals.

Document generator and registration module

A number of documents are created during the deal workflow whose partial or full automatic generation and storage is supported by the program.

The system generates Microsoft® Word documents based on stored templates and actual client data that makes users’ everyday tasks easier. Filling and modifying of generated documents can be controlled and traced. IRIS supports linkage, storage and retrieval of external documents as well.

Executive information module

We can define queries on stored data in any combination. The stored information can be accessed in two ways: with predefined, built-in queries and creating new queries by the user-friendly query wizard. The result lists of both query types can be printed, graphically represented and restructured within the given limits of table design function.

Monitoring module

The monitoring module aimes to trace and evaluate continuously the lifecycle of the deal as risk assessment during the duration. These tasks are - among others - checking payment of amortisation and interest, enquiry of financial information, monitoring plans’ development, rating and repeated execution of risk analysis.

In this module monitoring tasks can be parameterised at several levels (eg. client level, deal level). These tasks are automatically displayed in the administrator’s calendar. The module supports the work of users executing regular monitoring activities with periodic reports.

Client registration  module

This module ensures recording data of bank’s clients (business organisations or private individuals) in a structured form who can be related to the active deal as a client, guarantor or collateral provider. The module is suitable for registering and querying of owner-interest relationship between participants as well.

Client rating module

This module is used to create methods that can analyse the risk of clients’ non-payment, the partner’s or potential partner’s ability and attitude to fulfil future payment obligations. The system can contain several financial analysis methods simultaneously that can be flexibly used in parallel (eg. according to different clientele), furthermore the system supports creating forms in account format defined by the act on accounting.
